GAC has made inroads into a new oil & gas market in Asia – Vietnam.
Working with a local partner, SME Logistics JSC (SME), GAC Singapore delivered 191 packages, totaling 247 tonnes, of oilfield equipment and tools for a project at the development well in Block 15.1 off the coast.
Out of gauge cargo, comprising tanks of barite, oilfield equipment, chemicals and ship spares, was loaded onto a chartered ship at Jurong Port in Singapore and headed to PTSC Vung Tau Port in Vietnam.
All the local correspondence in Singapore was handled by Desmond Sim, GAC’s Head of General Freight and Key Account Assistant Manager Yvonne See. SME’s Head of Project Cargo, Tuyet Nguyen coordinated the shipment from Singapore to Vietnam, while her colleague Nam Phung handled inland trucking and customs clearance in Vung Tau.
In line with customs rules and procedures for oil & gas projects in Vung Tau, the shipment was offloaded for a lengthy inspection process. Once completed, the team then ensured timely delivery up to the project site to meet the client’s tight deadline.
Lailah Soon, GAC’s Asia Pacific Regional Business Development Manager for Oil & Gas/Projects praises everyone involved in the successful completion of the task:
“The great teamwork between GAC Singapore and SME Logistics ensured that the client’s project could proceed without delay, and helped us win a happy and satisfied customer.”
